The mood given off by this piece is amazing. So many things go through my head when seeing this painting. The detail in the destroyed base is amazing guy, another new favorite piece from the Bird-man. Great work....

bird-man responds:

Wow, what a great compliment. Thanks man. :)

Hey, this isn't bad at all. It shows that you are trying and striving to try new things. Digital painting is hard if you don't have the patience, but what I've learned is to go back to the basic traditional method. If you can, grab some oils or some acrylics and paint on an actual physical canvas for a while. Try some self-portrait sketches every week as a goal to meet. This will only help you as an artist. Some things are off anatomically in this piece such as the lips and eyes, as well as the nose. Grab some anatomy books and fill up pages and pages of different segments of the face, that is how I learned and it is also how I improved over time. Keep it up. Overall good job man!

Faces have never really been my strong point, especially capturing emotion and those features you mentioned. Thanks for the advice though, I've been contemplating going back to try traditional mediums since its been a while. Its been recommended to me by several people now so I'll definitely pick some up when I get the chance.

I love the style you have going here, I would have loved to see the background colored and a little more detail on the creepy looking things jacket. Your style is really smooth, glad I saw this.......

kmau responds:

Glad you like it. The background is so muddy to build a contrast and to create a frame around the characters though.

Yo! This is amazing! At first glance I thought you used Maya to do this and that was it, but after reading your comments I see that wasn't the case. I applaud your knowledge of programs. With a logo like that, I hope the party was a success......anyway I hope you post more of this type of artwork. Sick......

bluemagma responds:

Thanks dude! I'm working on a speed-paint right now between programming a game of mine, so I should have that available soon. As for 3D work, I've got a few 3D models done, now I'm in the process of texturing them. :D

I'm a sketchbook fiend who loves watching animation, and producing animations. I really enjoy RPG's and fighting games, and I hope to meet fellow artists here at Newgrounds.
